Marilyn J. Torvick, 92, of Duluth, went to her heavenly home on Resurrection Sunday, April 4, 2021. She was a most loving and selfless woman of God, a true servant of His, who spent most of her life caring for others. Her strong faith is a legacy for all. She was born on November 18, 1928 in Hibbing to Selena Rosewall and James Oscar McCracken. She graduated from Hibbing High School and went on to attend Hibbing Junior College. On April 23, 1949, Marilyn was married to Paul Torvick in Hibbing Methodist Church. They moved to Duluth where she lived the rest of her life. Marilyn was a member of Hillside United Methodist Church and the former Wesley and Central Avenue Methodist churches. She was very active in church and community work. Her many activities included holding various church offices, singing in choir, delivering Meals on Wheels for many years and volunteering at Miller-Dwan Medical Center and Solvay Hospice House. She loved family activities and her church family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul; her parents and her brother, Duane McCracken. Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Torvick of Hermantown and Diane Torvick of Duluth; grandchildren, Gretchen Thompson, Shelley (Zak) Richmond and Dave (Abby) Moe, all of Duluth; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Jeanette Gibson of Winnipeg, MB. A private memorial service will be held. Inurnment at Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
